Marichikj – Hurrelbrink: Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung provides support for swift progress in reforms and EU agenda

Skopje, 31 August 2023 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs Bojan Marichikj met Thursday with Peter Hurrelbrink, the new director of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES). The meeting was also attended by the outgoing director, René Schlee.

The Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release that the focus of the meeting was strengthening cooperation in the coming period, with a special emphasis on the transformation of the country in key areas for the EU accession process.

The new FES director, Peter Hurrelbrink, affirmed the support and commitment of the foundation to the country’s fulfillment of the reform processes and the EU agenda. 

At the meeting, Marichikj underscored the importance of the cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert and the foundation’s significant contribution to the democratic and reform processes for the fulfillment of the country’s strategic goal – EU membership.

“In the coming period, which will be dynamic and important due to the EU accession process, we will continue and promote our cooperation, and strengthen our partnership through new activities,” said Deputy Prime Minister Marichikj.

Marichikj thanked the outgoing FES director René Schlee for the cooperation, and wished him success in his future engagements.
