Manchevski's 'Kaymak' wins award at i-Fest in Palermo

Skopje, 2 January 2024 (MIA) - Macedonian filmmaker Milcho Manchevski's latest release "Kaymak" ended 2023 with yet another international award - the seventh one in a row for the film, and the tenth one together with the three awards that Manchevski won last year.

 

According to the film's producer, "Kaymak" was awarded best film at the i-Fest International Film Festival in Palermo, Sicily, which ran through December 29, 2023. The film received the International Award of the City of Palermo, made by the famous Sicilian potter Nino Parrucca who celebrates this year half a century of his work.

 

 

The festival also paid tribute to Manchevski with a screening of his film "Before the Rain", winner of the Golden Lion in Venice and nominated for an Oscar, as well as with a masterclass held by the filmmaker in Palermo.

 

"Kaymak" will soon kick off 2024 landing in the official competition for best film at the festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

"Kaymak", a Macedonian-Danish-Dutch-Croatian co-production supported by Eurimages, saw its world premiere at the Tokyo Festival (A-category) in November 2022, then followed a global festival tour in Taipei, Portugal, Italy, the United States, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, etc.
