Manaki Brothers Film Festival kicks off in Bitola
Bitola, 19 August 2022 (MIA) - Cinematographers of the world will attend the 43rd Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers’ Film Festival in Bitola on August 19-26. The festival will take place in four venues, including Bitola’s Culture Center, the Officers’ House, the Manaki Cinema and the summer terrace of the Cultural Information Center - Bitola. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday at 9 pm, in the large hall of Bitola’s Culture Center, where a red carpet will be rolled out for the stars of the festival, and French feature film Mother and Son, whose cinematographer is Hélène Louvart, will be screened for the audience.  Fourteen films will be shown as part of the festival’s main program, including this year’s Palme d’Or winner Triangle of Sadness, this year’s Golden Bear winner Alcarràs, as well as Drive my Car, the Japanese film released in 2021 that won the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film earlier this year, and Silver Lion award winner Hand of God which premiered in Venice last year. Two Macedonian films will also be screened at the festival, namely Snow White Dies at the End, a Macedonian-Cypriot co-production, and Mimi, a Macedonian-Croatian-Montenegrin co-production.  British-Danish cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, winner of the festival’s Golden Camera 300 award for lifetime achievement, will attend Friday’s opening ceremony, and one of the legends in cinematography, John Mattison, will attend the festival’s closing ceremony. The Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers’ Film Festival is held under the auspices of the President, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Bitola. dk/nn/
