Macedonian-Slovenian business forum on impact of climate change and geopolitics on risk management and business

Skopje, 7 February 2024 (MIA) - Reviewing the influence of Slovenian companies in North Macedonia, finding synergies for future cooperation and drawing attention to all existing and expected local and global challenges is the focus of the business forum entitled "The water is rising: Running a business while managing crises," held in Skopje on Wednesday.

The forum, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in North Macedonia together with the Association of Slovenian and Macedonian Entrepreneurs, Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, Institute for Strategic Solutions and Spirit Slovenia, discusses the impact of climate change and geopolitics on risk management and business, how to decipher the rapidly evolving dynamics of risk in today's world, and how global events affect local environments and the region.

"The goal of this event is to discuss opportunities for expanding business between North Macedonia and Slovenia, which is already quite large," said Slovenian Ambassador Gregor Presker ahead of the event.

He stressed that bilateral cooperation in the field of economy is extensive but can be strengthened through other such events.

"Here we have many companies that are still present on your market and new companies that want the same. They are seeking new opportunities to grow businesses, expand cooperation and increase investment trends between both countries. Most of the participants are present on your market, but there are also ten others that have come from Slovenia," Presker noted.

Association of Slovenian and Macedonian Businesses President Vojdan Jordanov said there are always interested potential investors from Slovenia, and that good projects to attract them are required.

"Most of the guests at the event come from Macedonia, but there are also guests from Slovenia with whom we will discuss opportunities for economic cooperation, current global crises, changes in the global supply chains, global ways of working, ongoing wars, but mostly we will focus on natural disasters. We will discuss opportunities for regional cooperation, which will help us become more competitive during the ongoing global crises," Jordanov pointed out.

He added that today's event has investors that are interested in good projects.

"Slovenia is the 10th largest investor in Macedonia since its independence, so of course there is continuous interest. The forum has representatives from research institutes or companies considering investment opportunities. Last year, Slovenia made a large energy investment so I believe something else will follow soon," Jordanov noted. ssh/ik/
