Macedonian tourists drown near Albania’s Durres
Tirana, 22 August 2021 (MIA) – Two Macedonian tourists drowned near Spille beach in the Albanian port city of Durres, the Albanian police said Sunday.
Police released their initials as M.M., aged 79, and C.M., aged 78, saying the incident occurred around 11:25 am due to high waves with the two suffering heart attack, reported MIA’s correspondent.
The two men were part of a tourist group from North Macedonia that was on the public beach.
“CPR was performed on the two tourists, but it was impossible to save them. The observer intervened when he saw one of the bodies, but as he went further he noticed two bodies. Cardiac arrest is the cause of death,” Gent Lasaku of the Albanian federation of lifeguards, told reporters and offered condolences to their families.
Around the same time, it was reported that a tourist from Kosovo, 59, drowned on Velipoja beach in Albania.
