Macedonian, Hungarian governments hold joint session in Ohrid

Ohrid, 27 September 2024 (MIA) – The governments of North Macedonia and Hungary are holding Friday in Ohrid a joint session, led by the countries’ prime ministers, Hristijan Mickoski and Viktor Orbán.
The PMs held tête-à-tête meeting before the session, which is expected to last about two hours.
PM Mickoski said the meeting was friendly calling Hungary a partner that has recognized the Macedonian ambitions for independence and sovereignty.
“Political and economic ties between our countries have been enhancing for years. Today’s meetings only confirm our strategic alliance. Hungary is not only our partner on the European stage, it is also an example of how a country can successfully balance national sovereignty and global integration,” Mickoski wrote in a Facebook post.
After the session, the two prime ministers will hold a news conference to present details from the bilateral talks.
Orbán’s delegation, which arrived on Thursday afternoon, is comprised of ten ministers.
On the sidelines of the two-day visit, a tour of Ohrid will take place, as well as a visit of Bogorodica Perivlepta church, the Antique Theater, St. Naum monastery and the two prime ministers will also lay wreaths at the Ss. Cyril and Methodious monument in Ohrid, said the government.
