Macedonian airports served 3.5 million passengers in 2025, a 9% rise compared with 2024
- Both Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, served 3,5 (3,475,288) passengers last year, which is an increase of 9% compared to the annual statistics for 2024.
Skopje, 12 January 2026 (MIA) - Both Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport, served 3,5 (3,475,288) passengers last year, which is an increase of 9% compared to the annual statistics for 2024.
In 2025, 26,500 flights were served, which is 4% more compared to the same period - January to December in 2024, TAV Macedonia said in a press release.
In December solely, TAV Macedonia statistics show a double-digit increase in the percentage of passengers served at both airports or 25% compared to December in 2024, or in numbers, 294,781 passengers.

In the last month of 2025 2,019 flights were operated, which is 7% more than December in 2024.
The daily average of passengers in 2025 also shows a stable increase. Skopje Airport served an average of 8,786 passengers per day, which is 9% more than in 2024, and 767 passengers traveled daily through Ohrid Airport, which is 16.3% more than 2024.
Separate analyses for the two airports for the period from January to December show that 3,211,419 traveled through Skopje International Airport, which is 8.7% more than in the same period of 2024, while Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport recorded a double-digit increase of 20% with 263,869 passengers serviced.
“The success we achieved in 2025 is not accidental. It is the result of a clear strategic direction, focused investments and strong partnerships. The 9% increase in the number of passengers and 4% in flights at both Macedonian airports is direct confirmation that investments in infrastructure modernization, improving operational efficiency and expanding the airline network are yielding concrete and measurable results. In addition, the new destinations, the continued cooperation with airlines, the increased travel demand and the dedication of our employees have enabled stable and sustainable growth. These results strengthen the position of Macedonian airports as secure and competitive regional aviation hubs and give us a strong foundation for even more ambitious development in the coming period,” says Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.
Istanbul, in all 12 months, was the most frequented destination from Skopje International Airport to both IGA and Sabiha Gokcen airports with a 16.6% market share. Then, come Basel Mulhouse (6.2%), Frankfurt (5.7%), Zurich (4.5%) and Munich – Memmingen (4.2%).
The top five countries with the most direct flights are Germany (25.4% market share in total passenger traffic), Turkiye 23.6%), Switzerland (10.8%), Italy (5.5%) and Sweden (4.3%).
From Skopje International Airport currently 15 airlines fly to 49 destinations, while from Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport 3 airlines fly to 7 destinations.

According to airlines announcements, as of March this year, the route network from both Macedonian airports will be expanded, with opening new air routes and new destinations. Wizz Air will start to fly from Skopje to Naples and will bring back Budapest on the capital’s route network map, while from Ohrid they’ll start to fly to Milano. In May, Austrian Airlines will start to fly from Ohrid to Vienna, while in June Ohrid Airport will bring back the tourists from Poland, with the opening of the flights from Wroclaw and bringing back the flights from Katowice, TAV Macedonia said in a press release.
