Ludva: Ready to ensure smooth implementation of French proposal once approved by Skopje
Skopje, 10 July 2022 (MIA) - The Czech Ambassador to the country, Jaroslav Ludva, said his country, which took over the EU's rotating presidency, is ready to contribute to the smooth implementation of the French proposal as soon as it is approved by North Macedonia. “The Czech Republic has always been a strong supporter of North Macedonia on its EU path. As holder of EU Council Presidency, we are ready to do everything we can to contribute to smooth implementation of the negotiating framework proposed by the French Presidency and to organize an intergovernmental conference immediately after it is approved by the Republic of North Macedonia,” Czech Ambassador Ludva told TV Alsat's “360 Degree” show in regard to the official position of his government. Ambassador Ludva's comment comes after the statement of the Czech EU-analyst, Jana Juzová, that, according to what she heard from the Czech MFA, "they are very upset with France and Bulgaria, and the reason is that other member states were not consulted about the proposal, but only Bulgaria, and the other countries were left in the dark." Earlier, last night, Juzová clarified her positions with a post on Twitter. “I would like to clarify that my comments were based on my long-term research and opinion as a policy analyst following the EU enlargement and CZ foreign policy and in no way represent the official positions of Czech Republic,” Juzová tweeted. The Czech Republic took over the six-month rotating presidency of the Council of the EU from France on July 1, and will be followed by Sweden in January 2023.
