Lloga: Liaison Prosecutor for North Macedonia at Eurojust to be elected as soon as possible

Skopje, 15 May 2023 (MIA) - The Public Prosecutor's Office will complete as soon as possible the necessary procedures over a decision on the ongoing call for candidates for Liaison Prosecutor for the Republic of North Macedonia at Eurojust, Minister of Justice Krenar Lloga said in an address at the launch conference on the Eurojust project "Enhancing Cross-Border Cooperation in Criminal Justice in the Western Balkans" in The Hague.

Minister Lloga noted that the Prosecutor's Office is soon expected to issue a notification about a selected candidate, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

"Minister Lloga said a rulebook has been adopted on the cooperation between the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Ministry of Justice with Eurojust. Proceeding from the need to enable greater effectiveness and efficiency in operations, the text of the rulebook was prepared, which for the most part regulates institutional coordination and coordination with the liaison prosecutor," reads the press release.

In his address, it adds, Minister Lloga noted that the commitment of Eurojust to further engage with partners from the Western Balkans in order to strengthen the capacities of the states in dealing with cross-border crime, by providing operational and technical assistance and support, as well as simplifying the implementation of joint investigations, is extremely important towards more efficient handling of cases of cross-border crime.

"An extremely important segment of our strategic cooperation and partnership is the liaison prosecutor for the Republic of North Macedonia at Eurojust, and hence I want to highlight the obvious role and active participation in achieving the results so far of the current Liaison Prosecutor, Lenche Ristoska," the Justice Minister stressed.

According to him, the appointment of a liaison prosecutor in The Hague will contribute to a visible improvement of the results in prosecuting cross-border crime, as well as building national capacities.
