Skopje, 22 May 2023 (MIA) - Cybersecurity can be achieved only through effective and efficient capacities but also prevention. Experience is the best practice. Education of experts and experience exchange represent an important step in countering cybercrime, said Justice Minister Krenar Lloga on Monday.

Minister Lloga addressed a panel within a Southeast Europe summit on countering cybercrime in Croatia's Šibenik, saying it is necessary for every country to ensure a secure, safe, credible and resistant digital environment when cyber-threats and attacks become more frequent, more sophisticated and cause increasingly damaging consequences, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.

"We are living in a time of enormous rise in the number of internet and ICT users, electronic services and applications, which is proportionate to new cyber-threats and attacks. It is difficult to detect in a number of cases, even more difficult to secure evidence, and in some cases it is impossible to efficiently administer criminal proceedings and bring perpetrators before justice," said Lloga.

Regarding the Government's activities in this regard, he said North Macedonia has joined the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise as its 103th member, becoming part of one of the largest global networks for international cooperation and capacity building on cybersecurity.
