Skopje, 8 February 2024 (MIA) — Caretaker Justice Minister Krenar Lloga met Thursday with his Turkish counterpart Yılmaz Tunç as part of his two-day visit to Ankara, the Justice Ministry said in a press release.

According to the release, they talked about reforms in the judiciary, information technology and strengthening cooperation between both Ministries.

"The ministers discussed major reforms foreseen in the 2024-2028 Judicial Sector Development Strategy, amendments to the Law on the Judicial Council, the Law on the Public Prosecutor's Office, a new Law on Pardons, currently in a Parliamentary procedure, and the Law on Sanctions; as well as mutual cooperation, and the numerous protocols and memorandums that have been signed over the years," the release says.

The justice ministers agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation on all levels, in Skopje, especially in the resocialization of persons serving prison sentences.

The meeting highlighted the willingness to organize international and bilateral conferences, study visits, and training programs for judicial institutions.

"Turkey's experience in the field of law is extensive. It is for this reason that Turkish authorities have been asked to share their efforts for the reintegration the Department of Human Rights, Department of International Relations, Department of Judicial Mediation, UYAP System, Bureau for Representation of the Republic of North Macedonia before the European Court of Human Rights, and the Department of Criminal-rehabilitation and detainees within the framework of the resocialization program," the Justice Ministry said. ssh/mr
