Skopje, 26 January 2023 (MIA) – A draft-law on amnesty for those convicted for the April 27 events has been sent Thursday to MPs, attorney Janaki Mitrovski told MIA. Lawmakers will most likely receive the law on Monday, while the attorneys who drafted it are set to hold meetings with all parliamentary groups in order to lobby and get support for the law.
Mitrovski explained that the draft-law envisages amnesty for the events that took place on April 27, 2017, more specifically it proposes a full amnesty for persons sentenced up to 10 years in prison and halving of the sentence for those sentenced to more than 10 years in prison.
Only two people have been sentenced to less than 10 years – Aleksandar Vasilevski-Ninja and Abdulfeta Alimi.
Mitrovski also said that he and his colleagues plan to hold meetings starting Monday with all parliamentary groups and seek support for the law. ad/ik/
