Strumica, 11 July 2024 (MIA) - A wildfire that broke out yesterday at Ograzhden mountain in Novo Selo municipality is getting closer to the Bulgaria border, said Strumica firefighting unit commander Aleksandar Gudev late on Thursday.

"Firefighters cannot intervene for the time being because of the inaccessible terrain. We expect our team to be transported with helicopters to the site early tomorrow," said Gudev.

Crisis Management Center (CMC) director Stojanche Angelov also confirmed that firefighting aircraft and helicopters will be used to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters in the Bulgarian town of Petrich have been briefed about the fire and they are monitoring the situation.
