Labor Ministry: Working group on minimum pension holds constitutive session

Skopje, 6 September 2023 (MIA) - The working group tasked with reviewing proposals on the issue of minimum pension in the Republic of North Macedonia, and a set of measures in suport of pensioners, held its constitutive session on Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy said in a press release.

 

Labor Minister Jovanka Trenchevska wished the working group success in preparing draft solutions to be presented to the Government, and then submitted to Parliament, the press release adds.

"In preparing the draft measures and legal solutions for pension insurance or making changes to the existing one, it is important to take into consideration the stability of the pension system and make sure that pensions are paid on time and with no interruptions," Trenchevska said.

 

The Minister, reads the press release, pointed out that the working group will also focus on low-income pensioners, especially those with minimum pension. She added that the working group will rely on analyses and information prepared by parties involved in the group.

 

The president of the working group said they will work intensely and meet twice a week in order to come up with legal solutions and draft measures sooner.

 

The working group agreed to first work on coming up with appropriate social measures for low-income pensioners, and then discuss a new legal solution on minimum pension or make changes to the existing one.ssh/nn/
