Skopje, 7 March 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska met Monday with US Ambassador Kate Byrnes to discuss mutual cooperation, ways to enhance it, as well as current developments in Ukraine. North Macedonia has condemned Russia’s attack against Ukraine and it fully respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. The Labor Ministry, said Trenchevska, is tasked with completing preparations for sheltering refugees from Ukraine fleeing their country. “The Ministry will inform the government how many refugees we can accommodate and provide protection and aid during their stay,” she added. Russia’s threat against Ukraine is a threat against democratic values worldwide, according to Ambassador Byrnes. “Minister Trenchevska informed the US Ambassador about the Ministry’s policies and challenges in the field of human rights, rising living standards, social reforms, gender equality laws and labor laws, efforts made to increase the engagement of women in politics, the Roma inclusion strategy, etc,” said the Labor Ministry in a press release.
