Kumanovo, 15 October 2021 (MIA) – Kumanovo has always been on the right side and will once again choose what’s best for the municipality, SDSM leader Zoran Zaev said Friday at the final campaign rally in Kumanovo ahead of Sunday’s election promoting the party candidate for mayor, Oliver Ilievski. Zaev said that over EUR 120 million have been invested in Kumanovo in the past four years. “The Government will continue to invest in Kumanovo and to support prosperity of the municipality together with Oliver Ilievski,” he added criticizing the former administration for neglecting the municipality for 11 years. Mentioning the projects completed in the past four years, including new emergency center, reconstructed roads, a reconstructed bridge, and the works under way for the construction of the Kumanovo-Beljakovce-Kriva Palanka railway, Zaev pledged that in the next year local authorities will build new kindergartens, a road section connecting with the E-7 highway as well as three new multi-storey car parks in the city. He called on Kumanovo residents to choose future instead of looking back in the past, alluding to the opposition, which he claimed has been hindering development by blocking initiatives. Addressing the rally, the mayoral candidate Ilievski pledged he will invest in Kumanovo “with policies that will turn the city in metropolis.” He said he is ready to introduce new city management and to provide quality and sustainable solutions through good governance. “It’s no coincidence that the residents of Kumanovo for 30 years have been electing SDSM candidates,” Ilievski said promising a series of projects, including kindergartens, multifunctional playgrounds, household gasification, an industrial zone, clean environment, etc.
