Moscow, 9 December 2024 (MIA) - The decision to grant political asylum to ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his family was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"Of course, such decisions cannot be made without the head of state," said Peskov. 

Russian media reported late Sunday that Assad is in Moscow and has been granted asylum in Russia.
