Kovachevski-Mitsotakis: Countries’ friendship enables development of strategic energy projects
Skopje, 18 February 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis met at the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on Friday and expressed satisfaction from the continued strengthening of the political dialogue in recent years, accompanied by high-level visits and meetings, building trust between the two countries and increasing economic cooperation. The two PMs recognize the mutual interest for progress in relations in the joint strategic and capital energy investments, such as North Macedonia’s share in the Alexandroupolis gas terminal and the construction of the gas interconnector with Greece, the Government said in a press release. Kovachevski expressed satisfaction from the bilateral relations and mutual friendship, which has a big potential to further enhance and enlarge, in line with strategic partnership that the countries have established through the Prespa Agreement. The PM thanked Greece for its strong support to the adoption of the negotiating framework over the formal start of EU accession negotiations with North Macedonia, a position that was reaffirmed at today’s meeting, reads the press release.
