Skopje, 24 February 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Friday he would meet the Association of Journalistsm of Macedonia (ZNM) upon completion of the Government reshuffle procedure, in light of the recent protest march and the journalists' demands.

"Journalists have always had and continue to have my support, and they know this. On the other hand, journalists are obligated to inform the citizens. I believe we can all, individually and collectively, work towards enhancement of ourselves and institutions we work for, eventually enhancing the country in general, since this is a state that will join the EU," PM Kovachevski told reporters.

According to him, the Government and the journalists together brought back North Macedonia, one considered a captured state, into the fold of countries governed by democracy.

Kovachevski said that the new Criminal Code treats an attack on a journalist as an attack on an official, adding that the Government allocated funds to support media during the covid-crisis.
