Skopje, 20 March 2024 (MIA) - Without SDSM, the country's European integration process would not exist. In our country, there are two political blocs: one, led by SDSM, advocating for EU integration by 2030, and the other, led by VMRO-DPMNE, pushing for an alternative solution lacking any plan or explanation, SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski said Wednesday evening.

As he said in an interview with Alsat M TV, these elections will be a choice between SDSM and the coalition, representing European values, offering hope to the citizens, while on the other hand, there will be hopelessness.

“The idea of European Macedonia is what unites these political parties from the coalition, as well as other political parties within the government, which I led. The major decisions concerning Euro-integration, NATO integration, and the initiation and completion of the screening process, they were precisely made during the tenure of the SDSM-led government. There is no process for European integration in our country without SDSM,” Kovachevski noted.

Recent discussions have revolved around the concept of forming a coalition comprising all political parties sharing a clear vision and strategic objective for North Macedonia's integration into the EU by 2030.

"I believe that in our country, at the end of the day when political programs are presented, there will be two blocs. One will advocate for EU integration by 2030, and the other bloc of political parties led by VMRO-DPMNE, which will advocate for some alternative scenario, for which there is neither a plan nor an explanation. This is already clear to all of us, as well as to our citizens," Kovachevski said.

He emphasized that citizens can see how the country is progressing in NATO and EU integration with SDSM, contrasting it with how it was during the so-called antiquization period. He said that DUI can also say about this, as they were part of the coalition with VMRO-DPMNE and were part of the SDSM government.
