Skopje, 29 January 2024 (MIA) - Former Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Monday that talks with coalition partners over the upcoming elections are ongoing, but no final agreement has been reached to date. He pointed out that the talks are aimed at creating a coalition of political parties that share the same values and vision for the country, which is North Macedonia to join the European Union as soon as possible.
"Talks with coalition partners are ongoing. No final agreement has been reached to date, which is normal because we are still at a stage when the elections have not been announced yet. But talks are ongoing, with the aim of creating a coalition of political parties that share the same values and vision for North Macedonia to join the EU, as opposed to other political parties that advocate alternative solutions, which they don't even care to explain," Kovachevski told reporters at a joint press conference with caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi after Monday's handover ceremony.
As regards other operational activities related to the upcoming elections, Kovachevski said SDSM will launch an office on "Makedonija" street in Skopje later on Monday, adding that the procedure for presidential and MP candidates is also underway.
