Kovachevski: Student dormitories in poor condition to be included in 2023 investment plan

Kovachevski: Student dormitories in poor condition to be included in 2023 investment plan
Skopje, 18 November 2022 (MIA) – Some of the student dormitories are in good condition. However, in talks with the Minister of Education Jeton Shaqiri, we agreed that those student dormitories that are in poor condition should be included in the 2023 investment plan, for complete renovation of everything that needs to be renovated, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said in response to a question from MIA’s reporter regarding his position on student dormitories.   According to the Prime Minister, student standard is not only student meals.   “Student standard also includes scholarships for good high school students who don’t have enough financial resources to study, and that is why we have equalized the scholarships. Student meal, on the other hand, was introduced precisely by this Government. We must respect students because they are the future of the country,” Kovachevski said on Friday after overseeing construction works at the tunnel on the Kichevo-Ohrid highway.   He mentioned that he was involved in the talks with the students regarding student standard, adding that the main discussion had started over student meals.   Regarding student dormitories, Kovachevski said neither the opposition nor the President of the country can say much on this topic, because he’s never been in a student dormitory given that he’s from Skopje.   “I can speak about studying in Skopje, because every day at six in the morning I travelled to Skopje by bus. Lectures and exercises lasted until 8 in the evening, and during the breaks, which lasted three to four, when there was nowhere to go, then I went to student dormitories. So yes, I can speak about it,” said the PM.
