Kochani, 3 May 2024 (MIA) – SDSM accepted the punishment from the citizens in the first round of the presidential elections and knows how to learn from its mistakes and will not repeat them, but giving support to VMRO-DPMNE in the upcoming elections means returning to the past and stopping the country's future, SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski told a rally of the 'Coalition for European Future' in Kochani on Friday.
"I know that that punishment was delivered to us on April 24, and not to the idea of a European Macedonia. What I will not accept are the criticisms from VMRO-DPMNE and from Hristijan Mickoski, the student of Nikola Gruevski, and his presidential candidate Siljanovska, who are trying to sabotage the country's future again. This means that nothing has changed in VMRO in the past period, nor have they learned from their mistakes," said Kovachevski.
He added that if a right-wing party like VMRO-DPMNE gets too much power, it will mean the end of the country's European prospects, because they will delay European integration indefinitely and have neither a plan nor are they consistent in achieving the strategic goals of the state. "We need a European future, not going back 20 years into the buried past," Kovachevski said.
He criticized former party members who have formed their own party to harm SDSM.
"We also saw those fake social democrats who made their own party, started from Kumanovo and expanded it to the whole of Macedonia, not to spread ideology, but only to give support to VMRO-DPMNE to make a bigger difference in relation to SDSM," Kovachevski said.
SDSM list principal in the third election district Sanja Lukarevska also addressed the rally in Kochani, urging citizens to go to the polls on May 8 and cast their vote for European future of the country.
