Kovachevski: SDSM does not accept conditions and political deals

Skopje, 30 April 2024 (MIA) - SDSM does not accept conditions and will not get into political deals with anyone, because this is a question of the country's future and there is no trading with it, the party leader Dimitar Kovachevski told a rally in Drachevo on Tuesday.

"Allow me to respond to the letter written by the ZNAM entity to the public. First, the SDSM leadership is chosen by the members of SDSM, who are the heirs of NOB and ASNOM and Kiro Gligorov, not vassals who backed down and went straight to the heirs of Vancho Mihajlov. Second, the list principles and all the MP candidates of SDSM and the coalition are in the elections to present the program of SDSM and the political parties that make up the coalition and with that program, with those people, with those representatives of the social democratic idea, we seek the citizens' votes," said Kovachevski.

He pointed out that SDSM is focused on achieving the best result in the upcoming May 8 elections and called for the mobilization of all democratic and progressive forces to prevent the return of the VMRO-DPMNE regime.

"We are not giving up on Macedonia in the EU! Our plan for a European Macedonia has been translated into a concrete and feasible program," the SDSM leader said.

According to Kovachevski, SDSM is the only political party that will never give up on its inclusiveness and that continuously contributes to the multi-ethnic character of the country.

He said that if a right-wing party like VMRO-DPMNE gets too much power, it will "kill" the country's EU prospects.

"Therefore, I call on all progressive citizens who mean the country well, to go to the polls on May 8 and choose a European future with SDSM and the coalition, vote Stevo Pendarovski for President and say a resolute 'NO' to the destructive forces that conspire internal conflicts, divisions and external isolations and blockades," Kovachevski told the rally in Drachevo.

The SDSM leader said these elections are extremely important, because this is the time when the country has a real chance, which it has never had before, to become part of the European Union, which will bring a better standard of living, better health and education, and more effective fight against crime and corruption.
