Kovachevski says request to be sent for opening Macedonian cultural center in Bulgaria’s Blagoevgrad

Kovachevski says request to be sent for opening Macedonian cultural center in Bulgaria’s Blagoevgrad
Skopje, 25 October 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said documentation is already being prepared for the opening of a Macedonian cultural center in Blagoevgrad, adding that a request will be sent to the Bulgarian Government.   In response to a reporter’s question, Kovachevski said he will be in Skopje on Sunday, when the opening of the club in Bulgaria is to take place. He stressed that opening of such clubs should be in the direction of rapprochement, not discord.   “On Sunday I will be in Skopje, but in the Ministry of Culture and in the Government, since I announced it, we are already preparing the documentation for opening a Macedonian cultural center in Blagoevgrad and the request will be sent to the Bulgarian Government. We have a Macedonian cultural center in Sofia and we will also have the opening of a Macedonian cultural center in Blagoevgrad, the request on which will be sent,” PM Kovachevski said after Tuesday’s promotion of a new investment in Skopje economic zone.   He called on everyone who has the opportunity to attend the opening of the center, noting that during such activities, care must be taken for the feelings of the citizens.   “I believe that the opening of cultural centers between the countries is a way to bring them closer as states and as institutions and as citizens, and I think that all those who have the opportunity, especially the citizens of Blagoevgrad and the border areas, should attend such events because I think it brings citizens closer,” said Kovachevski.   In opening cultural centers, he added, attention should be paid to the feelings of the citizens. He said that by this he meant above all, what was happening in the country, so that they don’t become a place of discord, but a place to bring citizens closer, both in the country, and between citizens of neighboring countries.   “Such were also our official reactions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sent regarding certain provocations by one of our neighboring countries where I was personally attacked by people whom I personally do not know. However, when I saw the official reaction of the Bulgarian institutions, they also expressed condemnation regarding the narrative that certain people want to create, which doesn’t correspond at all to the European future of our country, nor to the European position of their country, nor of the European future of the region,” said Kovachevski.
