Kovachevski says final decision on participating in EU-Western Balkans Summit to be made tomorrow

Skopje, 21 June 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said a final decision on participating in the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels will be made on Wednesday.
“Ahead of the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit, today together with Aleksandar Vučić and Edi Rama we held an extraordinary meeting of the Open Balkan. We discusses about the national positions of each of the countries, regional perspectives, as well as the dynamics of the European integration process. We agreed that after additional internal consultations, tomorrow morning we will make the final decision over our participation in the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels,” Kovachevski posted on Facebook.
The Prime Minister added that talks also focused on several topics of importance for the region, and an initiative was launched for an Agency for Attracting Investments within the Open Balkan, to further boost economic development in the region.
“Topics also included the upcoming Belgrade food, wine and tourism fair, as well as other topics arising from the recently held Open Balkan Summit in Ohrid,” said Kovachevski.
Earlier on Tuesday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he had spoken to the Prime Ministers of North Macedonia and Albania, Dimitar Kovachevski and Edi Rama, via video conference call regarding the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit, noting that, on Wednesday, the three of them will announce their decision about whether they will participate in the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels.
“We’re fighting together for a clear perspective of the Western Balkans, even stronger cooperation and better connectivity,” Vučić said in an Instagram post.
The EU-Western Balkans Summit is to take place in Brussels on Thursday.
