Kovachevski says country’s strategy is to attract investments that provide well-paid jobs
Skopje, 1 March 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski invited on Tuesday public and private investors to use the country’s potential in areas including development of green economy, digitization, innovation and technology, human capital and development of infrastructure, adding that the country’s strategy is to attract investments that provide well-paid jobs. “Our strategy is to attract investments and companies that provide well-paid jobs in perspective industries. North Macedonia has developed conditions and programs that make the country an attractive location for investors. We maintain a stable macroeconomic situation, we have a continued drop in the unemployment rate, and our economy proved to be resilient to the strong economic crisis, which is important to potential investors,” Kovachevski posted on Facebook. In addition, the Government forwarded a press release with a video statement by PM Kovachevski on Monday’s participation of the government delegation at the EBRD Western Balkans Investment Summit in London. “At the EBRD Western Balkans Investment Summit in London, I presented the opportunities and advantages that we offer as a country to foreign and domestic investors. North Macedonia has excellent and developed programs to support investors, which were positively assessed during all the meetings I held,” Kovachevski says in the video statement. At the meetings in London, he adds, I stressed that the Government’s main focus is development of the economy at home and raising the standard of the citizens. “North Macedonia must not be a place where investments will be made because of cheap labor, but because of the quality of the workers and favorable business climate. Our strategy is to attract investments and companies that provide well-paid jobs in perspective industries. I invited public and private investors to use the country’s potential in areas including development of green economy, digitization, innovation and technology, human capital and development of infrastructure. These are areas that are part of the Government’s economic growth and development plan, and our focus is to attract investments in these sectors. Investors look to invest in safe countries. As a NATO member, the security and stability of North Macedonia are guaranteed, and thus conditions to attract foreign investments are good,” Kovachevski says. He pointed out that in London he had also presented the Government’s ambitious plan on energy transition, extremely important one in times of a global energy crisis. “The energy transition will provide security and independence in the supply of energy resources, increase of domestic production with a focus on renewable energy sources. The challenges are big, but I firmly believe we’ll overcome them through a right strategy for dealing with the crisis,” Kovachevski points out.
