Skopje, 25 June 2022 (MIA) – Everyone has the right to respect, dignity, acceptance without prejudice and equal opportunities for self-realization. The Pride Parade is an important democratic development in North Macedonia. I wish for a successful and peaceful #SkopjePride, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Saturday. “The Government is committed to ensuring the well-being of all citizens – we passed the Law on Prevention and Protection against Discrimination, which includes sexual orientation and gender identity. For the first time, the Committee for Protection against Discrimination includes people from the civil sector. There are still challenges ahead, but we will resolve and overcome them together and with commitment,” Kovachevski posted on Facebook. Therefore, he adds, the care and efforts we make to ensure affirmation and open space for active participation of the LGBTIQ+ community remain a roadmap in building a democratic society that practices European values and in which there’s a place for all.
