Skopje, 2 April 2024 (MIA) – At a convention Tuesday evening during which Stevo Pendarovski is to present his program, SDSM leader said Pendarovski, in his role as President, demonstrated leadership on the issue of the country’s European future.

Speaking about why Stevo Pendarovski should be re-elected, Kovachevski said Pendarovski “acted like a real leader when the European proposal was delivered”.

“When it was time to begin negotiations with the EU in July 2022, Stevo and I sat together and he said ‘I know that all the pressure will be on you as of tomorrow. I know that you will have to go through that process until the end. That’s why I’m standing side by side with you, and I will be the first one to call a press conference and say Macedonia should accept the European proposal. Macedonia should become an EU member state.’ This is how real leaders act. Leaders who think well of their people and their country,” Kovachevski said.

The SDSM leader, said North Macedonia would become an EU member state by 2030.

“Macedonia will become an EU member state. With Stevo, with you and with me, in 2028 Macedonia will finish negotiations with the EU and all of you here will be proud of the fact you were a part of Macedonia’s path towards a richer, more just and more democratic European country,” Kovachevski said.
