Kovachevski - Pekarová Adamová: Support to accelerated integration process for full-fledged EU membership
Skopje, 24 October 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, alongside Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska, met on Monday with Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová.   Participants in the meeting highlighted close and friendly cooperation between North Macedonia and the Czech Republic, stressing commitment to further promote it.   “Interlocutors conveyed the position that the Czech Republic and North Macedonia are active NATO partners, voicing hope that such cooperation will continue as European Union members. In this regard, participants in the meeting voiced strong support for North Macedonia’s further integration in the Union, congratulating on the progress and EU accessions opened in July this year,” the Government said in a press release.    Interlocutors agreed that responsible behavior is needed from all institutions, both from the Government and from the Parliament, in order for North Macedonia to continue the European path.   Prime Minister Kovachevski thanked the Czech Republic for its support, as one of the most open and vocal supporters of the country’s European integration.   Participants in the meeting pointed out that the positioning of North Macedonia’s foreign policy is appreciated, completely in line with the European Union, in relation to the war in Ukraine.   In addition, participants in the meeting concluded that Europe is complete together with the Western Balkan countries, to achieve sustainable stability and security, reads the press release.   As regards the situation in Ukraine, interlocutors agreed that taking side with Ukraine is taking side with democracy and peace in Europe and in the world, noting that solidarity is necessary between countries on the European continent, both in terms of this issue and in terms of dealing with the effects of the war, i.e. the challenges in energy and economy.   Minister Petrovska pointed out that cooperation between North Macedonia and the Czech Republic in defense is excellent, and together with Prime Minister Kovachevski highlighted the importance of unity between NATO members regarding the situation in Ukraine and overcoming the global security challenges.
