Kovachevski: North Macedonia exemplary in improving stability through dialogue

Skopje, 6 February 2023 (MIA) — Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski met Monday with the ambassadors of the Quint countries (the USA, France, Italy, Germany, and the UK), who attended a conference on dealing with anti-Semitism in the OSCE region as the first of a series of gatherings to be organized during North Macedonia's OSCE chairpersonship, according to the government in a press release.
Prime Minister Kovachevski thanked the ambassadors on their cooperation and said it was a great honor and a great responsibility for North Macedonia to hold the 2023 OSCE chairpersonship, the release says.
While chairing the OSCE, the prime minister said, North Macedonia was ready to provide political leadership to contribute to greater stability and security in Europe.
Meeting participants concluded that the fight against corruption and promoting good governance should be prioritized to stimulate the region's democratic and economic growth.
Speaking about latest political developments in the country, the prime minister said intense consultations and debates on the constitutional amendments were being held as a condition for progress toward EU membership.
He stressed the importance of the support of the USA and the EU so the country can complete the necessary reforms on its EU path. Accelerated integration, he said, would strengthen regional stablility amid the region’s internal political challenges, economic uncertainty and bilateral disputes.
Meeting participants said overall security would be strengthened by supporting sustainable economic growth, environmental cooperation, fundamental human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination. mr/
