Kovachevski: No backing down from the future and struggle for progressive state

Skopje, 25 April 2024 (MIA) – SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski during a rally late Thursday in Chucher Sandevo said that there will be no backing down from the future and the struggle for progressive state. He urged citizens to come out on May 8 and give their vote to the Coalition for European Future and to presidential candidate Stevo Pendarovski.

“I want to encourage you to talk to every friend, relative, and neighbor by May 8. We acknowledge our past mistakes, and we have a clear program and plan to rectify them all. Additionally, convey that we are the party that has delivered all progressive initiatives for the country and freed it from the clutches of a single political party that held power for an entire decade,” Kovachevski said.

He called on citizens to join together in conveying the message of an advanced state where everyone is respected and where there will be a better standard of living.

“I urge you never to give up on what we believe in and to fight to achieve everything we have outlined in our program to become a reality and for the country to become much better than it is today. There will be no backing down from the future and the struggle for an advanced and progressive Macedonia,” Kovachevski noted.

SDSM's list principal in the second election district, Oliver Spasovski, stated that the message is practical, heard, and that the only value in the country is always to stand shoulder to shoulder with your people.

"We are here, dedicated together to opening up the prospects of the state. We have two candidates with two represented periods. I believe we should focus on securing a victory for Stevo Pendarovski in the next period, a man who firmly holds the helm of Macedonia. It doesn't suit us to stand still and not fight, we didn't stop when it depended on whether we would stay alive on April 27, we stood firm, we managed to overthrow the regime," Spasovski said.

He urged for massive turnout for country’s European future on May 8.

SDSM Vice President and MP candidate in the second election district, Fatmir Bytyqi, emphasized that May 8 marks a fresh start, and the votes will be counted from zero.

“The fight is not over. Each of us has a second chance to actively engage, with faith in ourselves and in SDSM, and to change the course of events. Our children demand this from us, our country demands this, they demand it so that we can protect their future,” Bytyqi said.

According to Bytyqi, a forward-looking perspective is needed, towards the vision of a prosperous and cohesive state, a member of the EU, and with strong economic growth.

"Now is not the time to retreat or surrender. We stand united, and we will stand together - we will not allow anyone to divide our party or our nation. We do not back down from the future or from the progressiveness of our unity," Bytyqi underscored.
