Kovachevski: MoI and Prosecution identified perpetrators in ‘most professional’ manner

Skopje, 4 December 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski praised on Monday the Interior Ministry and Public Prosecutor’s Office for “the most professional and dedicated manner in which they identified the perpetrators of the murders of Vanja Gjorchevska and Panche Zhezhovski”. The PM said the culprits will be brought to justice and their heinous act will be punished with the most severe punishment.

In answer to a journalist’s question after the leaders’ meeting, Kovachevski stressed that the statements of the Interior Minister and the Public Prosecutor highlight that this is an isolated case of criminals who should receive the most severe punishment in line with Macedonian legislation.

“I wouldn’t want to repeat what the Interior Minister and Public Prosecutor outlined in detail; however, I think based on the way they clarified it, with all the details, explicitly highlights that this is an isolated case of criminals, who should receive the most severe punishment in line with Macedonian legislation,” said Kovachevski.

According to the Prime Minister, the Ministry and Prosecution have managed to identify the perpetrators in the most professional manner.

“This affirmed the professionalism of our investigative bodies, of the Prosecution, which, without any influence from anyone, acted in this case and in other cases. This crime has a first name and a last name. It is the duty of the investigative and judicial bodies to deal with such criminals,” added Kovachevski.

He thanked the media, as well as the members of the special team established by the Ministry, for shedding light on the two murders.

“I want to thank the media that reported on this case, as well as all citizens who shared information, and all members of the special team established at the Ministry for shedding light on the two murders,” added the Prime Minister.
