Kovachevski meets with Borrell, Várhelyi: Europe supports country's next steps in EU integration process

Skopje, 17 March 2023 (MIA) — Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski hosted Friday a meeting with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell and EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi to discuss next steps in North Macedonia’s European integration process and their importance regarding the country’s future and regional stability, according to an official press release.
Prime Minister Kovachevski thanked the high European officials for their contribution, together with other European partners, toward the successful start of North Macedonia’s accession talks with the EU last July.
According to the prime minister, the government is committed to the European agenda, implementing reforms, promoting neighborly relations in the spirit of European values, and moving forward in European integration.
Kovachevski, Borrell and Várhelyi met ahead of the 16th meeting of the Stabilization and Association Council of North Macedonia and the European Union, which is taking place Friday in Skopje.
The meeting is chaired by PM Kovachevski and co-chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Borrell. EU Enlargement Commissioner Várhelyi is also attending. mr/
