Kovachevski: Leaving discussion with political peripherals from Bulgaria to domestic political peripherals

Skopje, 16 January 2023 (MIA) – These people are political peripherals and I would leave their discussion with the political peripherals from our country. I represent a government that communicates with the government of Bulgaria, at a much higher level than before, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Monday regarding the irredentist statements of Bulgarian Member of European Parliament (MEP) Angel Dzhambazki and Bulgarian MP Kostadin Kostadinov during an event over the weekend in Skopje.

“Although these people are political peripherals, their statements cause a stir among the public. This is their only goal – to provoke and undermine the efforts of North Macedonia and Bulgaria to continue in the spirit of cooperation in bilateral relations,” PM Kovachevski told a press conference.

He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to the statements by sending a note to Sofia in which it labels such actions as a threat to goodneighborly relations.

“MFA has already asked Sofia to disassociate itself from these indecent statement that hurt the feelings of our citizens and seriously harm the efforts to enhance goodneighborly relations,” added Kovachevski.
