Kovachevski - Kälin: Swiss Confederation supports North Macedonia’s progress
Skopje, 13 October 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met Thursday with Irène Kälin, the President of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation.   Participants in the meeting agreed that the Republic of North Macedonia and the Swiss Confederation are friendly countries that cooperate through close bilateral relations throughout the three decades of their establishment, which is to be marked next year.   PM Kovachevski extended gratitude for the great friendship with the Swiss Confederation, and for Switzerland being the largest bilateral donor in the country.   Participants in the meeting welcomed the country’s commitment to democratic development and extended congratulations for the start of accession negotiations with the European Union. In addition, they stressed that the contribution of all political entities in the Parliament and in the country is important towards further progress, the Government said in a press release.   Interlocutors also tackled current political issues in North Macedonia, as well as in the context of global developments. In addition, interlocutors reaffirmed the importance of cooperation in terms of good governance, the rule of law, the environment, adding that it can be improved in other important areas as well. They highlighted concern shown by the Swiss Confederation for the country’s diaspora, as a bridge in the good cooperation between the two countries.
