Vilnius, 11 July 2023 (MIA) — North Macedonia and Estonia nurture friendly relations and close political dialogue, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said Tuesday at their meeting held on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.

According to MIA's reporter in Vilnius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairman-in-Office Bujar Osmani also attended the meeting.

Prime Minister Kovacevski thanked Prime Minister Kallas on the strong Estonian support for North Macedonia's European integration path. They also discussed topics related to the NATO Summit and North Macedonia's chairmanship of the OSCE.

Kovachevski thanked Kallas also on the support Estonia has provided the country in chairing OSCE and stressed that North Macedonia would continue to advocate for the joint implementation of activities as a prerequisite for positive changes within the OSCE.

Following the meeting, according to government sources, PM Kovachevski had informal brief meetings with several leaders, including Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov.

Kovachevski and Denkov met in person for the first time. Previously, in a telephone conversation at the end of June, Kovachevski had congratulated the new Bulgarian prime minister on his election and offered his best wishes. 

During the phone call, both prime ministers expressed their expectations for boosting intergovernmental cooperation in the interest of citizens and good neighborly relations.

They had also emphasized the importance of promoting positive rhetoric to contribute to mutual trust.

In Vilnius, PM Kovachevski also met briefly with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Slovenian President Robert Golob and Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic. mr/
