Strumica, 5 May 2024 (MIA) - SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachecski told a rally in Strumica on Sunday that on May 8, there is only one social democratic option, only one left and progressive option called SDSM.
"If it wasn't clear until now, the dilemma that some of you may have had has been cleared now, and I want to thank the political entity ZNAM and their leader for clarifying the dilemma and standing publicly with VMRO-DPMNE, hand in hand in support of Gordana Siljanovska Davkova. That's how their masks fell off," Kovachevski said.
According to him, the ZNAM party has been formed solely for personal benefit and support to VMRO-DPMNE.
He mentioned the statement of European Council President Charles Michel, noting that he had clearly said candidate countries should be ready for accession by 2030.
"By 2030, you will be seeing Montenegro and other countries sitting on their chairs in Brussels, bit with VMRO in power again our chair will remain empty. And they will blame the citizens for that, they will blame the neighbors and finally they will blame the EU itself, as they did from 2006 to 2017," said Kovachevski.
When citizens go to the polls on May 8, he added, they must keep in mind that the country's future is under serious threat, because if a right-wing party like VMRO-DPMNE gets too much institutional power with all state resources at its disposal, it is very likely that we will we face the end not only of our European, but also of our democratic perspective.
"It is about the country's future, it is about what we have to deliver to the citizens. And that's why the extended hand for the state's progress on the path to the EU means involvement of all citizens, instead of daily and totally unnecessary nationalism. We need this to be able to think calmly about what kind of society we want to build," the SDSM leader said.
List principle in the fourth election district Venko Filipche said SDSM will always be a party that lives and works among the citizens.
"This is the time to show that the heart of this party beats strongly, and that heart is each of you. We cannot move forward without your support, nor can Macedonia move forward without a strong SDSM. I urge you to stand up to those who try to underestimate and blackmail us," said Filipche.
List co-principal in the fourth election district Jovanka Trenchevska also addressed the rally. She denied VMRO-DPMNE's accusations in terms of SDSM's policies on family values, pointing out that family, children and family values are the most sacred things for the party.
She appealed to all pensioners not to allow themselves to be manipulated as in the 11 years of VMRO-DPMNE rule.
Former SDSM leader and PM Zoran Zaev also attended the rally in Strumica.
