Kovachevski: Government functions with stable majority
Skopje, 15 October 2022 (MIA) – The Government is currently functioning with a stable majority, and we are all witnesses to that, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Saturday.   According to him, there are two concepts in the country – one is in favor of a European North Macedonia, whereas the other one is against the country’s accession to the European Union.   If we look at the EC Progress Report, Kovachevski said, which was presented just a few days ago, we will first see progress in all areas of the country – more progress in some areas, less progress in others, but an overall progress in all areas, and for the first time in the history of the progress reports, the Government is better rated than the opposition.   The PM mentioned that during his address at the last Q&A session in the Parliament, he called on all MPs and political parties who are in favor of the concept of a European North Macedonia, of the concept of a country that joins the EU by 2030, that the doors for cooperation of this Government are open regardless of their political affiliation.   “There are decisions ahead of us that we have to make. These decisions must be made with a broad consensus in the country, as all decisions before have been made, and all those who want to be part of a prosperous, advanced country with a vision in which young people will know that in 10 years from now or in eight years from now we will join the EU, so that they can see their future here, and not in the EU member states,” Kovachevski said.   There are politicians in the country, the PM pointed out, who don’t want to allow, i.e. who block the country to be part of the EU in every way, due to their personal and political interest.   “If there are political parties in the opposition that want to be part of this process, they are all welcome, let’s do this together through the Parliament, through discussion, through the bodies of the Parliament, as soon as possible for the benefit of future generations,” Kovachevski stressed.
