Kovachevski: Gov't to do everything possible to complete big projects that have been started in Skopje
Skopje, 21 November 2022 (MIA) - The government will do everything within its powers to complete all the big projects that have been started in Skopje, which the people of Skopje and other cities need. I am working with the government team to see the possibilities to undertake some of the projects in the City of Skopje and to do them for the sake of the people of Skopje and not for the sake of politics, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said on Monday. "The obligation of this Government led by SDSM, as a political party that cares and has values in its foundation for care for all citizens, is that it must help all citizens within the capacities and opportunities it has. The visit of the Minister of Local Self-Government and the Minister of Culture to the City of Skopje was in that spirit. I think we are on the verge of an agreement to take over the authorizations for the Universal Hall so that the building can be completed and put to use by the citizens of Skopje, Kovachevski said after the opening kindergarten in the municipality of Chucher Sandevo in response to the question whether the Government will take over the authority in public city transport in Skopje after the chaos that occurred on Monday. He emphasized that just one year ago the president of VMRO-DPMNE Hristijan Mickoski was walking around the city and saying that Skopje will get the best mother and will become the best and most modern city in the world. Then, as he said, he said at a press conference that he would provide free public transportation for the citizens of Skopje and that he would buy new electric buses and that a factory for electric buses would be built. "Not only will that amount to nothing, but also the transportation that was in Skopje is gone," Kovachevski pointed out. There are, he added, other projects that should have been implemented, but were not implemented, such as the sewage treatment plant for the City of Skopje, a huge project that was practically a stumbling block for what happened in the city, because they were apparently accused of dividing commissions among themselves the members of VMRO-DPMNE. "Then we have fast bus transport in the City of Skopje, which is an approved project with funding from international financial institutions and which is simply not being realized, the junction of Momin Potok - a huge project that is at a standstill, the road to Vizbegovo is an extremely important thoroughfare that should connect the industrial Vizbegovo zone, but also Chucher Sandevo, the underpass under the Limak buildings, which is almost ready, and the obligation of the City of Skopje is to make the roundabouts - not even a millimeter of that has been done," Kovachevski specifies. dk/sk/
