Kovachevski: DS decision doesn't disrupt stability of ruling majority

Skopje, 14 February 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Tuesday that the decision made by the Democratic Union (DS) does not cause any disruption to the stability of the ruling majority.

Kovachevski, who is attending alongside Agriculture Minister Ljupcho Nikolovski a traditional grapevine pruning event in the village of Resava near Kavadarci, added that he expects DS officials to submit their resignations, mentioning the Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government.

"I'm glad that the Democratic Union said it remains on the European path and supports such decisions, which could not be confirmed in practice until now, except declaratively. We saw yesterday that the DS MP didn't vote for the Frontex agreement, but he still has the opportunity to show his declarations in practice in the future. I expect their officials to submit their resignations, here I am primarily thinking of the Deputy Minister of Local Self-Government," said Kovachevski.

The coalition government, he added, remains open for all political parties, individuals and organizations who are in favor of continuing the country's European path and full-fledged EU membership.

"I hope that as an experienced politician, Trajanov will not put himself in a situation like Mickoski and become Apasiev's hostage," Kovachevski said, noting that the ruling majority is strong and stable, and the Government reshuffle will pass with over 64 votes.
