Kovachevski dismisses as fake news reports about MEPSO sale

Kovachevski dismisses as fake news reports about MEPSO sale

Skopje, 3 November 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski dismissed as fake news reports that part of MEPSO Electricity Transmission System Operator is planned for sale.

"This information is mainly spread by opposition media in the country, and the opposition party also held a press conference. These are inaccurate reports and fake news. The state-owned company MEPSO also released a statement about it, noting that the company has neither discussed nor is discussing or negotiating with anyone about any selling," Kovachevski said in response to a reporter's question during Friday's visit to Bitola.

He pointed out that the company is fully state-owned, adding that the Government has neither held any talks about selling MEPSO.

"So, this piece of information is disinformation in terms of MEPSO and the Government," said Kovachevski.

When pointed out that the information about selling MEPSO to the Greek electricity transmission system operator comes from the Greek media, Kovachevski said "they have their own strategy, and they can have a strategy just like we can".
