Dojran, 27 October 2023 (MIA) – SDSM leader and Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski confirmed Friday he held a meeting with the leaders of four political parties from the government coalition, including DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, which focused on the date for the 2024 elections.

“At the meetings we spoke about all current issues in the country, including the elections, of course. What I can say in terms of the preparation for elections, regarding the Electoral Code and the holding of elections, there already exists a working group within the Ministry of Justice, where all political parties have their representative, in line with the Law and procedures. VMRO-DPMNE is the only one that hasn’t assigned a representative. So, I encourage them to assign a representative, because one or two parties can’t be the only ones making decisions about a process in which 30 and more parties participate,” said Kovachevski.

Kovachevski stressed that the working group will need to align the Law with the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, and discuss a precise date for the 2024 elections.
