Kovachevski: Cheaper electricity provided for food industry, expecting reduction in food prices
Skopje, 11 November 2022 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski alongside Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska visited on Friday the "Vardarec" dairy in Josifovo, Valandovo. The dairy is a success story of a local company with long-standing tradition, quality and idea for development.
"I'm glad that with the IPARD program, "Vardarec" has a long-term development goal. Last year, here in the industrial zone in Josifovo, this new plant was opened, where various dairy products are produced. This is another indicator that with the help of European funds, our local companies can improve and develop their own production. "Vardarec" is an excellent example of the benefits of IPARD and the support given to us by the European Union," Kovachevski said during the visit.
In the coming period, he expects stabilization of the prices of basic food products. He noted that's why the government has provided support for the companies with the latest package of anti-crisis measures, so that manufacturers of food products could conclude agreements with ESM Sales in order to use cheaper electricity.
"There is no higher priority than dealing with the energy crisis, protecting the standard of living and maintaining the liquidity of companies. We work responsibly, rationally, we cut unproductive spending, all in order to fight this crisis together. In this greatest economic and energy crisis, no one will be left alone," said the Prime Minister.
The government, he added, has not forgotten the long-term direction, because it is an indicator of where the society is going, it is an indicator that the country is following the global circumstances towards renewable energy sources. dk/nn/
