Skopje, 1 June 2023 (MIA) — North Macedonia condemned Russia's military aggression against independent and sovereign Ukraine from the very beginning in last February and has provided strong support to the country ever since, a government press release said after Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on the sidelines of the 2nd European Political Community Summit in Moldova.
"We support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and its right to independence," the release quotes PM Kovachevski as saying at the meeting.
"We have provided and will continue to provide support in any form that Ukraine needs," he added.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi, the prime minister also said North Macedonia was one of the founding supporters of establishing a tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
By doing this, he pointed out, the country stood on the right side of history this time as well.
Kovachevski noted that Ukraine is one of the priorities of the country's OSCE Chairpersonship.
He also reaffirmed North Macedonia's support for Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and its commitment to NATO's open door policy.
The President of Ukraine thanked North Macedonia for the help given to Ukrainian people.
"You did not make any calculated moves. You stood by our side from the first day, and the Ukrainian people, we appreciate that," Zelensky said. mr/
