Kovachevski – Vučević: Deepening of relations between North Macedonia and Serbia will continue

Skopje, 27 January 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski alongside Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski met Friday with Serbia’s Deputy PM and Defense Minister Miloš Vučević.
Talks focused on several topics towards continuing and promoting the bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia. Interlocutors agreed that the relations between the two countries are friendly, and will continue to deepen by expanding cooperation, strengthening mutual trust, understanding and good neighborliness, the government said in a press release.
Participants in the meeting also discussed the opening of the honorary Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in Ohrid, and the normalization of relations between the two churches, MOC-OA and SOC.
PM Kovachevski pointed out that the partnership and friendship between the North Macedonia and Serbia are an example for the region. That is why it is important not only for the two countries, but also for the entire region to follow the European path.
Vučević expressed gratitude to the Macedonian government for the support of the Serbian community in North Macedonia and its involvement in the multicultural society in which everyone contributes.
He stressed that Serbia’s government remains committed to excellent relations and continuing cooperation, because the Republic of Serbia has no closer people. All essential issues have been resolved, and relations in the region have been relaxed.
Both sides noted that the Open Balkan should be expanded because it is a proof to ourselves that we can develop the region, adds the press release.
