Kovachevski – Stojmenova Duh: Stronger Macedonian-Slovenian cooperation on digitization

Ljubljana, 3 April 2023 (MIA) — At his meeting with Macedonian-born Slovenian Minister of Digital Transformation Emilija Stojmenova Duh, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski talked about Slovenia's support in the process of digitization of North Macedonia's state institutions, public administration, and business services, the government said in a press release.

According to the release, Prime Minister Kovachevski highlighed the importance for North Macedonia of Slovenia's sharing its experience and best practices regarding digitization.

"We are working on increasing the number of electronic services to citizens and businesses and we are focused on aligning the national legislation with the European Electronic Communications Code as well as with the EU Network and Information Security Directive and the 5G Toolbox," PM Kovachevski said.

According to the prime minister, digitization would improve the connections between state institutions, the academic community, the business sector, the civil sector, and all public services in general but it would also help in the fight against corruption "because this process implies reducing human contact in some services," he said.

Earlier in the day, Kovachevski in Ljubljana met with his Slovenian counterpart Robert Golob and with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon.

The two prime ministers signed a declaration to strengthen bilateral cooperation, which would include practical support from Slovenia during North Macedonia's negotiations with the European Union. mr/
