Kovachevski – Petrovic: It’s EU’s turn as region is advancing relations
Skopje, 25 May 2022 (MIA) – EU integration processes of the countries in the region are of geopolitical importance for Europe as well, which should value the efficient foreign policies in line with the EU’s policies and taking of the right side as regards the Russian aggression against Ukraine, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Montenegrin Ambassador Marija Petrovic concluded at Wednesday’s meeting.
They concurred that the development of good neighborly ties is of great importance for improving the quality of living standards in the countries in the region and for developing competitive economies toward Europe, the government said in a press release.
The countries’ good relations without outstanding issues were reaffirmed at the meeting and commitment to enhancing the cooperation was pledged.
Kovachevski and Petrovic also discussed ways for holding a joint governmental session aimed at improving the cooperation in the field of economy with a focus on infrastructural projects, deemed important to facilitate movement of the citizens between the countries that cooperate as partners in NATO.
PM Kovachevski also thanked Montenegro for its support to North Macedonia to become a NATO member.
“He said that the Republic of North Macedonia through a principled dialogue has been developing good neighborly relations and that the country remains focused on policies based on mutual respect. In this context, yesterday’s historic act of the Serbian Orthodox Church to recognize the autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric was noted as there are no more open issues between North Macedonia and Serbia,” said the press release.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the strategic dialogue between North Macedonia and the United States produced benefits at both economic and educational plan.
