Kostadinovski - Wahl: Constitutional Court priority in cooperation with OSCE

Skopje, 17 September 2024 (MIA) - Constitutional Court President Darko Kostadinovski and judges Tatjana Vasikj-Bozadzhieva and Fatmir Skender met Tuesday with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, Ambassador Kilian Wahl.
Talks focused on the successful implementation of the Court's activities supported by the OSCE Mission in Skopje, outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on February 2024, including the organization of an International Conference on the 60th anniversary of the Constitutional Court and subsequent trainings, aimed at strengthening the Court's capacities, the Constitutional Court said in a press release.
Kostadinovski presented Wahl with the priorities in his mandate, highlighting the commitment for introducing constitutional litigation, an instrument that will improve the rights and freedoms of citizens, the provision of a two-thirds law on the Constitutional Court will facilitate greater independence and autonomy, and strengthen transparency.
Ambassador Wahl said in the upcoming development strategy of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, the focus will be on the Constitutional Court, and that a top priority will be the jointly established commitments to introduce a constitutional litigation, increasing transparency, and strengthening capacities of the expert service, the press release reads.
Interlocutors agreed to continue cooperation on a new Memorandum of Understanding and forming teams that will specify the segments of further cooperation in order to improve the work of the Constitutional Court and promote the values advocated by the OSCE Mission in Skopje. ssh/sk/
