Kostadinovska-Stojchevska to initiate set up of Baukultur department within Culture Ministry

Skopje, 16 January 2023 (MIA) – Culture Minister Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska told the second Conference of European Ministers of Culture “Baukultur Alliance” that she sees Baukultur as a necessity, while shared experience and joint action are the right path to good solutions, the Ministry of Culture said in a press release.

“In Baukultur I see a strong motive to initiate the setting up of a department for Baukultur within the Ministry of Culture and to implement this in the shortest possible time, until we build a culture of living that will be a pleasure to live in,” said Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.

The Minister told the discussion led by President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset that the way out of the economic crisis and the search for cheap energy has great impact on culture and cultural habits, the change and appearance of our homes, as well as on the living environment.

In that context, reads the press release, the Minister added that the Government, faced with all the challenges from the beginning of this decade, is not only fighting to overcome the crises, but financially supports and encourages innovative solutions for the common good.

“The Government invites the public and private sectors to partnership towards productive and transparent cooperation together with the civil society sector. The Government allocated significant funds for the development of infrastructure this year, with due attention to infrastructure in rural areas, because healthy food products and a healthy environment are becoming increasingly important priorities for us,” Kostadinovska-Stojchevska told European counterparts in Davos.

The Ministers of Culture within the second Conference discuss with representatives of the private sector how together achieve high-quality Baukultur for Europe.

The aim of the conference is to launch the Davos Baukultur Alliance 2023, in which partners from all sectors will be represented, adds the press release.

Five years ago, the Davos Declaration 2018 “Towards a high-quality Baukultur for Europe” was approved at the first ministerial Conference. The Davos Declaration 2018 strives towards a high-quality Baukultur for everyone. The document calls for a better balance between technical/economic and cultural/social aspects of Baukultur, recognising that building always affects both culture and society and is never an exclusively private matter.

The 2023 Conference addresses the role of the building and real estate industry considering Baukultur as a common good. The Conference explores opportunities for better cooperation between authorities, the civil society and the building and real estate industry through initiating continuous exchange and networking, reads the press release.
